Girls water polo: Brooke Dutcher

Dutcher led her club in goals and finished second in steals and assists, helping Merced complete a perfect run through the Central California Conference.

BOYS WATER POLO: DEVIN STONE

Stone helped BC win a share of the Central California Conference championship and reach the quarterfinals of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs.

CROSS COUNTRY: THERESA MALLORY

Mallory made Golden Valley High School history this season, becoming the first girls cross country runner to capture a Central California Conference championship.

CROSS COUNTRY: JUAN SEGUNDO

Juan Segundo finished his cross country career at Livingston with his best season yet. He went undefeated on his way to a Western Athletic Conference championship. He finished fourth at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III championships, which earned him a second straight trip to the state meet.

BOYS SOCCER: Christian Alvarez

Cristian Alvarez spent seven months at the IMG Academy in Florida, battling for a roster spot on the under-17 U.S. national team. His days and nights were filled with practice and games, drilling some of the top players in the country, including a few MLS teams.

VOLLEYBALL: Megan Callahan

Buhach Colony volleyball coach Michelle Osmer could see the difference in her star junior. Megan Callahan was a much more confident player. She had improved defensively. And she had all the tools to be a big-time hitter. So it didn't surprise Osmer to see Callahan turn in a breakout season in the fall.

FOOTBALL: Bernard Bolden

After helping lead Merced to its third straight CCC title, Bernard Bolden is the Sun-Star Football Player of the Year. The senior played all over the field as a running back, receiver, quarterback, cornerback, safety, punter, punt returner and kickoff returner.
