Church serves fried chicken for lunch

Camp Pacifica presents Night at Horse Races

Camp Pacifica will host a Night at the Horse Races on Oct. 19 at the Boys and Girls Club, 615 W. 15th St. Prices range from $25 to $100 with food, great payouts and raffle prizes. The $10 admission price includes dinner and $10 in derby money. Proceeds benefit Camp Pacifica and the Lions Club hearing impaired summer camp. Call (209) 628-8311.

VFW and Legion hold open house

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4327 and the American Legion Post 83 will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct.19 at 939 W. Main St. Free barbecue dinner, refreshments, raffle drawings and veterans help center will be available. Please bring proof of military service. Merced Symphony hosts annual fundraiser

The Merced Symphony will host its annual fundraiser, “Music and Merriment,” from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the home of University of California, Merced, Assistant Vice Chancellor Graeme Mitchell and Gigi Mitchell.
