Topic is mental illness
National Alliance of Mental Illness of Merced County presents “Community Dialogue” to discuss mental illness in our communities. It will be held from 10:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoffmeister Center, 1920 Canal St. in Merced. There is no cost to attend.
The 2013 Habitat for Humanity dinner meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. today at St. Paul Lutheran Church Parish Hall, 2916 N. McKee Road. People who last names begin with A-G bring a dessert, H-N a main dish, and P-Z a salad or side dish. Call (209) 726-0850.
Fall concert Nov. 2
The Merced Symphony fall concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Merced Theatre, 301 W. Main St. It will feature a former Youth Audition winner, Tara Kamangar, who has gone on to worldwide acclaim as a pianist. She will perform Grieg’s Piano Concerto with the orchestra. The Merced Symphony will complete the program with Dvorak’s Symphony No. 6. Tickets are available at the Merced Theatre office or online at mercedtheatre.org.
The Merced Saturday Aglow will have Elaine Gale, director of Healing Rooms in Merced, for its meeting at 10 a.m. Nov. 2 at Christian Life Center, 650 E. Olive Ave.
Alpha Pregnancy Help Center will hold its annual fall benefit banquet at 6 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Merced County Fairgrounds pavilion. The guest speaker will be Abby Johnson, a frequent guest on Fox News and the author of the best-selling book, “Unplanned.” Call (209) 383-4700 or visit alphaphc.com.
Livingston United Methodist Church will have its annual winter rummage sale starting at 8 a.m. Nov. 2 at the church’s Pioneer Hall. The sale will feature holiday decorations and winter clothes, including coats and jackets. Call (209) 394-2264.
