‘Christmas Carol’ at Playhouse

Haunted house benefit

Hobie House will hold their annual Haunted House event, at 6p.m today at 1301 Yosemite Parkway. A $1 donation is sought to help fund the program. Hobie House provides a safe and healthy environment for addicts and alcoholics in recovery and treatment. Call (209) 722-6335.

Disabled vets need rides

Disabled American Veterans is seeking adults to help as volunteer drivers. Volunteering to drive a vet ensures that even those living far from Veteran’s Administration hospitals and clinics can get to their appointments and avoid going without the treatment they need. Harvest bazaar in Atwater

Atwater Methodist Church is holding its 59th annual harvest bazaar from 8a.m. to l p.m., Saturday, at 2550 Linden St., Atwater. Lots of handmade crafts and other gift items will be available. There will be a soup, sandwich and pie luncheon.

Vendor fair at high school

Stone Ridge Christian High School’s Parent Teacher Fellowship is having its third annual vendor fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church’s gym, 500 Buena Vista, Merced. There will be home décor, jewelry, arts & crafts, fashions, candles, and much more.

Folkloric show at theater

Sol Del Valle will be presenting a Dia de los Muertos program at 2 p.m. Sunday at Merced Historic Theater. Sol Del Valle is nonprofit group that promotes the Mexican culture by teaching Folklorico dance. Teocalli, a group from Fresno, will perform Aztec and traditional Folklorico dances, and musical group Arpex will also perform.

Group holding communtiy day

Church Women United in the Merced area is holding a World Community Day and annual meeting from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 8 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish Hall, 671 E. Yosemite Ave., Merced. The theme “Walking Through the Doors of Opportunity,” will involve sharing information on LifeLine, a nonprofit organization for empowering communities in the area. Veterans Day salute at OLM

Our Lady of Mercy School will hold a Veterans Day salute at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 8 at OLM School, 1400 E. 27th St., Merced. They are inviting all veterans to attend. Preschool through eighth-graders will assemble in the school auditorium to thank veterans for their service to our country.
