CASA training in March
Merced County will have an information meeting for those interested in becoming an advocate for children. Court Appointed Special Advocates is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality intervention and advocacy services to abused and neglected children in Merced County. The meeting will be at noon and 5:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at 2824 Park Ave., Suite A., Merced. CASA provides training, supervision and ongoing support to volunteers who work with children in the foster care system. Each volunteer is matched one-on-one with a child and acts as that child’s advocate. Call (209) 722-2272 for more information. The next training begins March 6.
Ducks Unlimited banquet
Atwater Ducks Unlimited will have its annual banquet March 1 at Atwater Community Center, 760 E. Bellevue Road. Doors open at 4 p.m. Tickets are $60 for one, $85 per couple, $35 for Greenwing (youth members), $480 for a corporate table and $900 for gun table. Price includes annual membership, hat and dinner. Town hall meeting for comments, gripes
The city of Merced will hold a town hall-style meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Tenaya Middle School, 760 W. Eighth St. The meeting is designed to let city residents tell council members about the issues facing them. The public will have plenty of opportunity to comment during the evening. The town hall meeting will be streamed on the internet. The link is at www.cityofmerced.org.
Franklin-Beachwood advisory council
Franklin-Beachwood Municipal Advisory Council meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 26 at Franklin Elementary School, 2936 Franklin Road, Room 21.
Rattlers 4-H set date for trail ride, dinner
The Don Pedro Rattlers 4-H Club will have its Lucky Clover Trail Ride and corned beef and cabbage dinner in the Lake Don Pedro area on March 16. Cost of ride is $25 per person and includes dinner. Dinners can be purchased separately for $10 each. Riders can participate in a fun trail ride “poker Run” if they wish. Presale tickets are available.
