Elks Park Breakfast
The Elks Park breakfast is scheduled for 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday at Merced Elks RV Park, 3600 Wardrobe Ave. The breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, fruit, orange juice and coffee. Bloody Marys and screwdrivers will be available. Donation is $6 for adults and $3 children.
Booster Club event
The Le Grand High School Booster Club will hold a Beach Bash and Class of 1984 reunion at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Vista Ranch and Cellars, 7326 E. Highway 140. Red Cross speaker
The National Association for Uniformed Services, H. Wayne Hein Chapter 18, will meet 10 a.m. Saturday at the Castle Air Museum banquet room. A representative of the American Red Cross will be the speaker. Topics will include the current method of giving CPR. For more information, call Larry Frice at (209) 358-2045.
The local stroke support group is open to anyone who has survived a stroke. Family, friends and caregivers are welcome. Meetings are 4 to 5:30 p.m. the second Thursday of every month at the Mercy Medical Pavilion, third floor, Classroom A, 315 Mercy Ave. The next meeting is Thursday. Run for the Fallen
The fifth annual Run for the Fallen will be Aug. 23 at Applegate Park near the flagpole. Preregister online at rftfmerced.eventbrite.com or at 7 a.m. the day of the run. There will be a ceremony at 7:30 a.m., and the run/walk will begin at 8. The event honors military men and women killed in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. A rib cook-off will be at noon Saturday at Club Mercedes, 569 W. Ninth St. in Merced. The event will include live music. Admission is $5. Ages 21 and up only. Call (209) 383-9906 to register your team and pick up rules. The event is sponsored by Vern Warnke for Sheriff, Gateway Fire Equipment, Elterab No. 2 and Johnny Tacherra for Congress.
