Merced College Art Gallery will present an exhibition of gouache painting, titled “Suburban Primitive,” by Northern California artist Ronald Walker. This exhibition opened this week and continues until Sept. 4, according to a Merced College press release.
The public is invited to a reception for the artist. The event is scheduled to be held Aug. 20, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event is free to the public and parking will be enforced.
Gouache is Ronald Walker’s medium and the subject of suburban life is his passion. His work is influenced by both Dadaist and Symbolic Art Movements.
Walker says his work serves as a type of metaphorical road map of his life that explores the inner aspects of his habitation in and movement through the suburban experience.
Never miss a local story.
Walker holds a master’s of fine arts degree from the University of Kansas. His work has been shown extensively in solo and group exhibitions around the country. He resides in the Sacramento area, where he teaches and produces art for a living, according to the release.
The Merced College Art Gallery is open 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and by appointment. For more information, contact Susanne French, art gallery coordinator at (209) 384-6064 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
