County farmers market held twice a week

The Original Merced County Certified Farmers Market is 7:30 to 11 a.m. today and every Wednesday at the shopping center off Yosemite Avenue and Paulson Road and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays at 18th and N streets. For more information, go to

School district offers contractor workshop

The Merced City School District will host a Contractor and Vendors Outreach Workshop Aug. 27 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Rivera Middle School, 645 Buena Vista Drive. Between 30 and 50 local contractors are expected to attend the event, where they can find out about bidding on the Rivera Middle School expansion project as well as long-term modernization at all district campuses. McSwain advisory council to hold meeting

The McSwain Municipal Advisory Council will hold its monthly meeting 7 p.m. Aug. 27 at McSwain Elementary School, 926 Scott Road. Dana Hertfelder, director of Public Works for Merced County, will give a brief presentation regarding roads and current projects. All McSwain residents are encouraged to attend.

Singer McKenna Faith set to perform at club

Country music recording artist McKenna Faith is scheduled to perform Friday at Club Mercedes, 569 W. 9th St. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 per person and you must be age 21 or over to enter. Los Banos blood drive to be held on Thursday

The Los Banos Community Blood Drive is scheduled for 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Latter Day Saints, 1826 South Center Avenue in Los Banos. All donors will receive a “buy one, get one” Big Fresno Fair 2014 voucher and a voucher for a pint of Baskin-Robbins ice cream.
