County farmers market held twice a week

The Merced City School District will hold a Contractor and Vendors Outreach Workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rivera Middle School, 645 Buena Vista Drive, Merced. Thirty to 50 local contractors are expected to attend the event, where they can find out about bidding on the Rivera Middle School expansion project as well as long-term modernization at all district campuses. McSwain advisory council
The McSwain Municipal Advisory Council will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at McSwain Elementary School, 926 Scott Road, Merced. Dana Hertfelder, director of Merced County Public Works, will give a brief presentation regarding roads and current projects. All McSwain residents are encouraged to attend.
Merced LGBT center grand opening
Merced’s first LGBT Community Center will hold its grand opening celebration from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. The center is at 1744 G St., Merced. Open Cockpit Day
Open Cockpit Day is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Castle Air Museum, 5050 Santa Fe Drive, Atwater. Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for ages 6-17 and free for children younger than 6 and active military personnel. Justice Conference at Merced College
A Justice Conference is scheduled Sept. 9-11 at Merced College. Hosted by the campus Students for Social Justice and sponsored by Associated Students of Merced College, organizers say the conference is to raise awareness for students and the community about atrocities and injustices, and to promote dialogue to find short-term and long-term solutions. The Merced Chapter of MAGA is scheduled to hold its chapter tournament at 9 a.m. Sept. 21 at Rancho Del Rey Golf Course, 5250 Greensands Ave., Atwater.
