The MCUCC started in 1993 and serves as a major fund-raiser for the Merced County United Way. It has raised more than $100,000 since its inception.
The MCUCC began as a two-day event, but will expand to include a team time trial on Friday this year. Saturday will consist of a downtown festival and bicycle race focusing on family atmosphere and entertainment based around the Old Merced County Courthouse and Old Courthouse Park. On Sunday there is a road race in the foothills, between Snelling and Hickman.
The MCUCC is a volunteer driven event, with more than 300 volunteers and staff.
Merco Credit Union supports the MCUCC. Since 1954, Merco has been providing personalized financial services to the Valley. Merco is local and a member owned organization. The Merced branch is located in the heart of our race circuit. The race is also supported by over 100 community owned and operated businesses.
Approximately 5,000 people attend. Participants come from all over the world and include current and former Tour de France competitors as well as leisure riders from Merced.
The MCUCC is the only international sporting event held in Merced and is widely considered one of the premier international cycling events in the Central Valley.
