Fiddler on the Roof

“Fiddler on the Roof” opens tonight at Playhouse Merced and plays three weekends through Sept 14, Fri and Sat evenings at 7:30 p.m. and Sun at 2 p.m. Tickets are adults $15-$22, seniors $15-$20, students $12, and children $10. ShakespeareFest presents “Cymbeline”

Merced ShakespeareFest presents “Cymbeline” on Sept 6, 7, 13, 14 at Applegate Park in Merced, (10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturdays, 5 p.m. Sundays). The Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit is scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. today at The Partisan, 432 W. Main St., Merced. Admission is $10.

Merced College art gallery

An exhibition of gouache painting by Northern California artist Ronald Walker titled “Suburban Primitive” will remain on display at the Merced College Art Gallery through Thursday. Gouache is Walker’s medium and the subject of suburban life is his passion. His work is influenced by both Dadaist and symbolic art movements. The Merced College Art Gallery is open 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and by appointment. Arts Center exhibit

Come Dancing

The city of Merced’s Recreation Department will be offering open dances from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 7, Sept. 21, Oct. 5 and Oct. 19. This is not a dance lesson, but an opportunity for all dancers to come and practice their dance moves. Music will be provided, but feel free to bring your favorite music to share. Open mic night

Singer Cheryl Lockett will be the featured artist at the American Legion’s open mike night, 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 20 at 939 W. Main St. There is no cover charge. Lockett is scheduled to perform during the first hour. Other singers, musicians, poets and comedians are invited to take the mic afterward. A guitar amplifier and a PA system will be available. No need to be an American Legion member – just sign in at the front door. Tri-tip sandwiches with potato salad will be available at $6 a plate. Proceeds support veterans programs.
