Authorities have arrested a 70-year-old woman for driving under the influence of alcohol after her vehicle was involved in a three-car collision Friday evening on State Route 140, according to California Highway Patrol.
The crash was originally reported Friday night as a non-DUI minor injury crash. But an updated CHP report released Saturday states that Atwater resident Nancy Coberley was suspected of DUI after she was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with moderate injuries.
According to the report, Coberley was driving a 2014 Hyundai west on Highway 140 at 5:38 p.m. when she allowed her vehicle to drift into the eastbound lane into a "glancing head-on" collision with a 2000 Honda east of Planada.
The Hyundai spun out of control west into a full head-on collision with a 2005 Ford traveling east behind the Honda, the report states.
Three San Francisco residents in the Honda, a 40-year-old female driver, 37-year-old man and 23-year-old woman, reported minor injuries, according to the report. The driver and male occupant received treatment at Mercy Medical Center.
A 36-year-old male driver, 29-year-old woman and 9-year-old girl from Merced in the Ford reported minor injuries and sought their own medical aid, the report states.
Highway 140 was reduced to one-way traffic at the site of the crash until just before 7:30 p.m., according to the report.
