A man was killed Thursday morning after being hit by a train near North Highway 59 and 16 Street, according to Merced police.
 The identity of the victim, has not been released by the police, just that he was described as a white or Latino man in his late 30s or early 40s.
The train stopped just north of 16th and R streets after the incident.
