LOS BANOS -- A 54-year-old man died Friday morning after being struck by a city-operated truck.
Police were called to the 500 block of West I Street at 6:32 a.m. after they received a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a Los Banos Public Works truck.
Police found Curtis Frandsen with injuries to his body and head and transported him to Memorial Hospital, Los Banos, where he was pronounced dead.
Los Banos Police Department Cmdr. Ray Reyna Jr. said witnesses reported seeing Frandsen struck by the westbound Ford work truck while walking north across the street in a crosswalk.

Reyna said the California Highway Patrol was contacted to help in the investigation.
"At this point in the investigation, there is no evidence of drug or alcohol use by the driver," Reyna said.
No further information on the driver of the truck was available, Reyna said, because the investigation into the fatality is in its initial stages.
