Merced mayor says a vote for him will bring more transparency, prosperity

A transparent and inclusive government is one of incumbent Mayor Stan Thurston’s goals, and a reason he wanted the job in the first place, he said. “After all, most (residents) are the ones that pay the taxes, they ought to have some input on how it’s spent,” the 68-year-old said. “To me, that’s a huge deal.”
