The Merced County Historical Society holds its annual membership meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Merced County Board of Supervisors Chambers. Valentine’s Day Dinner in Atwater
The Atwater VFW hosts its annual Valentine’s Day dinner at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the VFW Hall, 1388 Broadway, Atwater. The no-host bar opens at 5 p.m. The menu includes roast turkey, pork roast, bread and salad. Tickets are $25 per couple and can be purchased at the door or by calling 209-761-0967.

Merced Police Citizens Police Academy
The Merced Police Department is offering a free Citizens Police Academy. The classes will be held weekly on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. starting March 21 at the central police station, 611 West 22nd St., Merced. The deadline to register is 4 p.m. Feb. 23 or when the class reaches 28 participants. Applications are available at the station and online at cityofmerced.org. Toy Show in Merced
The seventh annual Chaos Collectibles Toy Show Round-up takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Merced Elk’s Lodge, 1910 M St., Merced. Admission is $5. Early-bird time runs from 9 to 11 a.m. that day and the early admission price is $10. Vintage toys from as early as the 1920s will be on display. Old Timers Association
The Merced County Old Timers Association is accepting applications to honor members of our communities who are 85 years of age or older and have lived in Merced County for at least 50 years. A luncheon will be served at noon on April 15 at the Italo-American Lodge in Merced. All applications need to be returned by March 25.
