Valentine’s Day Dinner in Atwater
The Atwater VFW hosts its annual Valentine’s Day dinner at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the VFW Hall, 1388 Broadway, Atwater. The no-host bar opens at 5 p.m. The menu includes roast turkey, pork roast, bread and salad. Tickets are $25 per couple and can be purchased at the door or by calling 209-761-0967.

Friends of the Fair 2018 Kick-Off Dinner
The Friends of the Fair will hold an annual pre-party and membership dinner to kick off the 2018 fair season with a sit-down dinner, hosted bar and entertainment. Funds raised will go to support the Merced County Fairgrounds. Attendees must be 21 years old. The event is scheduled from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Merced County Fairgrounds Yosemite Hall. Toy Show in Merced
The seventh annual Chaos Collectibles Toy Show Round-up takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Merced Elk’s Lodge, 1910 M St., Merced. Admission is $5. Early-bird time runs from 9 to 11 a.m. that day and the early admission price is $10. Vintage toys from as early as the 1920s will be on display. The Los Banos Arts Council will host Terry Brown for a song-writing workshop and concert on Feb. 24 at The Ted Falasco Arts Center, 1105 Fifth St., Los Banos. Spring Softball in Livingston
The Livingston Recreation Department is set to begin its “Spring Coed Softball” to for teenagers 16 and older at Lil Guys/Gals Field. The deadline to register is 5 p.m. March 2. The Merced Community College Chorus is seeking singers. The group gathers at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesdays at Lesher Hall on the Merced College campus in Merced. Director Phillip Smallwood is preparing for the group’s spring concert which is set for May.
