Members of the Merced, Atwater and Mariposa area chapters of Beta Sigma Phi will honor their respective Chapter Sweethearts at the 66th annual Sweetheart Gala. Valentine’s Day Dance
Club Mercedes will hold its “Nothin’ But Love Valentine’s Day Dance” at 6 p.m. Saturday at 569 W. Ninth Street. Live music by “Force ‘Em” from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Price is $10 per person. The Golden Valley Chorus will present Singing Valengrams in Merced, Modesto and other local communities. For $40, a barbershop quartet will sing a love song to someone’s sweetheart. Dog obedience class
A dog obedience class will be be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Applegate Park. The six-week class will teach basic obedience such as sit, down, stay and come when called, along with a Canine Good Citizen Class. Town hall meetings
Supervisor John Pedrozo will hold town hall meetings at 6:30 p.m Thursday at the Livingston City Council chamber, 1416 C St. in Livingston, and at 6:30 p.m Feb. 25 in the multipurpose room of Tenaya Middle School, 760 W. Eighth St., Merced. Pedrozo said he has coordinated the participation of several Merced County department heads who will be on hand to answer questions or respond to concerns raised by the public.
