This past weekend I had the absolute pleasure of attending Lucky Magazine’s Fashion and Beauty Blogger Conference called Lucky FABB.
This was the third time I have been invited to attend and am always so thrilled to be part of this very special conference. Every year, Lucky Magazine hand picks 300 of the best fashion and beauty bloggers to attend Lucky FABB.
They invite some of the most influential people in fashion to speak at the conference and ultimately create a magical two-day event. This time it was held in Beverly Hills, which is fitting considering it is one of the most iconic places to shop.
Every time I attend this conference the dynamic is completely different. The first time I attended, I had about 40 people who followed my blog. I was just starting out and knew no one. This year was much more special considering I have a couple thousand followers. I have been blogging for almost two years, so people knew my name and face without me introducing myself. Pretty awesome.
We were able to talk to representatives of clothing brands like MissMe and Bri Seeley as well as indulge in luxury items that were being handed out like SUSU Handbags and France Luxe, which specializes in hair accessories. I highly recommend you check out every brand I just listed – they are all pretty sweet.
Of all of the amazing things that Lucky Magazine provided, perhaps the most amazing was just networking and mingling with other bloggers. I was finally able to meet people face to face that I had only talked to on Twitter. Oh, the power of social media.
Now, let’s talk fashion.
It can be beyond intimidating attending an event where you know there will be 300 of the best dressed women. Every year I freak out a week before because I want to make sure my outfits are appropriate for the list of events I attend. This year I was very relieved that I fit right in. The main trend throughout the whole conference was the midi skirt.
Now for those of you who don’t know what a midi skirt is, don’t feel bad. I only learned what it referred to a few months ago. The midi skirt is simply a skirt with a high waist. I love this trend and am always on the hunt for the perfect midi skirt that complements my figure.
Luckily, a few weeks before the conference, I had attended a preview for Bri Seeley’s new collection and got my hands on the most perfect midi skirt to complete my Lucky FABB outfit. It was the most gorgeous aqua color, with perfect pleats and hidden pockets.
Bri knocked it out of the ballpark with this skirt. I added a simple stripped blazer to cover up a ruffled black top. Then I added a necklace that was full of sparkle and the most perfect green SUSU handbag. I felt so comfortable and confident in this outfit. I even took my own advice and wore some very stylish flats – see last week’s column on flats vs. heels.
It was an incredible weekend. I got to meet and talk with some of the most important people in fashion. I feel incredibly blessed that this was my third Lucky FABB and am thrilled to know that bloggers as a group are getting to help shape the way the world looks at fashion and beauty.
It is by far one of the coolest communities to belong to. Thanks so much for reading. For more details, photos and information about my trip to Beverly Hills for Lucky FABB, feel free to head over to my blog. Have a great week.
