Missing man turns up 30 miles from home
DOS PALOS -- A Livingston man reported missing on Sunday was found Tuesday at a Dos Palos farm, nearly 30 miles away.
The Merced County Sheriff's Department said the 55-year-old man told deputies he walked the 30-mile journey because he thought an upcoming doctor's appointment would result in surgery. He had stopped taking his medication and had gone without food and water for some time and seemed confused and disoriented, the sheriff's department said.
The man walked from his home in the 1500 block of Swan Street on Sunday and turned up at a farm in the 11000 block of Erreca Road near Turner Island Road on the Westside of Merced County. Deputy Patrick Heaney drove the man back to Livingston and released him to family members.
