A Merced resident was arrested after the city police department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit searched his home and found a rifle, narcotics and cash.
Michael Hawkins, 41, was booked into the Merced County Jail Friday night for firearm possession and sales of narcotics, according to a police department news release.
The Merced Police GVSU obtained information Friday that Hawkins had firearms and narcotics at his home in the 2200 block of F Street in Merced.
Officers went to the home at 8:04 p.m. and talked with Hawkins in the front yard of the home. According to the release, Hawkins gave the officers consent to search his home.
During the search, officers found a rifle, ammunition, packaged rock cocaine, digital scales, packaging material and cash, the release states.
