Deputies Robert Hawkins and Paul Barile went to a Winton clinic after a report of a stabbing. The woman said she was stabbed Saturday but went to a friend's house to get stitched up, according to a sheriff's department news release.

The investigation took them to the 7700 block of Walnut Avenue where they found Raul Moreno, 41, who had been deported for being in the country illegally, but re-entered and was living in Winton illegally.
