The League of Women Voters of Merced County will hold several events designed for local residents to become informed about the candidates running in Merced municipal election in November.
Candidates will answer questions read by a moderator. Questions are submitted by the audience and screened by league and co-sponsor members to eliminate those that are inappropriate to the office or of a personal nature.
The forums, co-sponsored by the Merced branch of the American Association of University Women, the Merced County Chamber of Commerce and the National Council of Negro Women, will take place in the City Council chambers at the Merced Civic Center. Simultaneous translation in Spanish will be available.
On Oct. 11 at 7 p.m., the league will hold a candidate forum for council candidates. This session will be moderated by Geri Brown.
On Oct. 26 at 7 p.m., a forum will be held for mayoral candidates, moderated by Mary Hofmann.
The Merced Civic Center is at 678 W. 18th St.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation of citizens in government.
