Merced County’s household hazardous waste facility announced it will be open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The revised schedule begins Nov. 2.
Homeowners can drop off free of charge at the Highway 59 landfill such waste as car batteries, latex paint, used oil and oil filters, antifreeze, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and pool chemicals.
No explosives, compressed gas cylinders, medical waste or radioactive material will be accepted.

Residents can’t drop off more than 15 gallons or 125 pounds of waste at a time. Containers must not be leaking.
