The Chowchilla Speedway will offer some Halloween fun for the final event of the 2009 season.
In addition to two nights of races, the Pumpkin CUP 'Spook'tacular, scheduled for Oct. 30-31, will feature a pumpkin crash destruction derby, a hayride and trick-or-treat offerings in the pit area of the speedway.
Friday will feature spec sprint cars and hobby stocks in a full program of heat races and main events. The top 10 in the "A" mains will compete Saturday for the big money shootout. Saturday's event include winged and non-winged sprint cars, spec sprints and hobby stocks.
A hayride will be offered through the pits, where children can trick-or-treat with the race teams and drivers. There will also be a costume contest. The winner will receive two season passes for the 2010 race season.
All focus will then switch to the wall of pumpkins in the destruction derby pit separating the destruction derby cars on each side of the pit. Once the green flag is given to the derby competitors, the pumpkins will fly.
Races start at 6 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday.
Friday night tickets are $12 for adults, $7 for youth 6-12, and free for kids 5 and under. Saturday night tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for youth 6-12, and free for kids five and under.
