The Merced City Council voted on a new ordinance to make part of Childs Avenue, from Highway 99 to the eastern city limit, a designated trucking route.
It would be a trucking route for no more than six months.
The route was created so that trucks can access McLane-Pacific's facility east of Highway 99 until the Campus Parkway is completed.
Trucks will be prohibited on that section of Childs Avenue from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., as well as 1 to 4 p.m.
