The graduation ceremony for Junior Leadership Merced is scheduled for Thursday, March 25.
Junior Leadership Merced, a program operated by the Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce, teaches high school students about Merced's business and infrastructure.
The current class has 21 students, the largest group since the program started in 2004. Class 6 began in September, with the students filling out detailed applications and participating in interviews with JLM steering committee members. More than 30 applications were received, and 21 students were chosen to participate. Graduates will receive recognition from Congressman Dennis Cardoza, Senator Jeff Denham, Assemblymember Cathleen Galgiani, the Merced County Board of Supervisors, the cities of Merced, Atwater and Livingston, and Merced College.
The ceremony will be held on Thursday, March 25, at the Merced Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th Street, and will begin at 6 pm. Reservations are required, and should be made by calling (209) 384-7092.
