The Merced Greater Chamber of Commerce said its Leadership Merced program had begun recruitment of local leaders for “Leadership Merced Class 26”.
Leadership Merced held its first class in 1984 and since then the program has served as way for leaders to connect with each other and to connect with local professionals from a variety of disciplines and organizations, the chamber said in a news release. The leaders not only examine and learn about economic development and business opportunities in Merced County, they also have the opportunity to develop their individual leadership skills and styles.
Participants can expect to leave the program with increased knowledge and understanding about the local economy, local community, local history and knowledge about ways they can participate in improving the quality of life in Merced County, the news release continued.
Each class is active in community events that enrich the lives of people, with an overall goal to make an impact as leaders in Merced County.
Participants in the program devote one day each month for 10 months, including one weekend retreat. Each day provides a comprehensive look at a core topic that affects quality of life and the business climate in Merced County. Participants meet with a variety of professionals who facilitate the sessions.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2010-2011 session that begins Sept. 15.
Deadline for filing an application is Sept. 7.
