Turlock police have arrested a suspect accused of committing at least five robberies in Merced and Stanislaus counties.
Oscar Villarreal was taken into custody 7:35 a.m. July 30 in the 900 block of Kenwood Avenue in Turlock after a patrol officer spotted the suspect driving a car matching the description of a vehicle used in the robberies, according to Sgt. Nino Amirfar, Turlock police spokesman.
Villarreal's car was stopped, and under questioning he admitted committing the robberies, Amirfar said.
Merced police believe Villarreal on July 25 robbed a Walgreens at 3098 G Street and an Arco at 1400 block of Yosemite Parkway. He also allegedly robbed a Circle K market in Atwater on July 30, according to Lt. Andre Matthews, Merced police spokesman.
In Turlock, Villarreal is accused of robbing a Valero gas station at Golden State Boulevard and Olive Avenue on July 27 and a Chevron gas station at West Main Street and North Tully Road.
He was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail, where he remain without bail.
