A Delhi resident on probation for possession of a concealed weapon was arrested Tuesday on a charge of methamphetamine possession.
Michael Blair, 56, of Delhi, was arrested by Merced County Sheriff's Deputy Sam Becerra. Becerra was on patrol in the 15000 block of August Avenue when he saw a car swerving and driving erratically, according to Deputy Tom MacKenzie.
He stopped the 1994 Mazda at a gas station parking lot and contacted the driver. The driver identified himself as Blair. A passenger was a 47-year-old Delhi resident who was on probation for possession of a concealed weapon.
Blair got out of the vehicle, and Becerra asked him if he had any drugs or weapons or if he could search him. Blair immediately dropped the wallet he was holding in his hand, MacKenzie said. He then admitted to Becerra that he had some marijuana in his pocket, but had a medical card for it in the wallet. After looking in his wallet, Becerra found a small baggie containing meth in it, according to MacKenzie.
Blair denied knowing what was in the baggie and said he hadn't used meth in several years. Blair was booked on charges of possession of methamphetamine and remains on $10,000 bail. The drugs weren't weighed, but the volume was less than one ounce and worth about $20 to $40.
