The Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce will be holding a barbecue cook-off on Labor Day weekend at Merced’s Courthouse Park.
The event will be open to the public (free admission) and will give Merced County’s backyard chefs a chance to prove that their dinners are the most delectable.
The cook-off will take place on Saturday, Sept. 4, at the park, located on M Street between 20th and 21st streets in Merced. Special guest and former NFL star Lorenzo Neal will be on hand to sign autographs and promote his new barbecue sauce.
In addition, there will be several live bands, a DJ and a bounce house area for the children.
Participants and non-food vendors may download applications on the chamber’s website at www.merced-chamber.com. Members of the public may also visit the website to buy discounted sampling tickets up until the week before Labor Day. The tickets will be used to buy all of the barbecued goods that will be for sale.
