Did BCHS students resort to newsprint when bathrooms ran out of toilet paper?
Students at Buhach Colony High School in Atwater went without toilet paper in several dozen bathroom stalls yesterday, according to a concerned community member who called the newsroom this morning.
Instead, the students used torn newspaper to wipe themselves, the caller said.
I placed a call to Principal John Olson about the issue. He said he didn't know of the incident and would check out the information I gave him.
Olson called back later with the following statement: "Under these difficult budget times, the superintendent supports and is committed to providing the necessary school supplies to ensure an optimal educational environment."
He said he was not confirming or denying the incident. "It's hearsay. I don't know if there's newspaper in there," Olson said. "I just wanted to give the comment. There's toilet paper in the bathrooms."
The caller said toilet paper was replaced in the stalls this morning.
Attempts to reach students and teachers at the school have been unsuccessful so far. If you have any additional information about this allegation, please call me at (209) 385-2407 or email email@example.com.
