A man on a stolen motorcycle led California Highway Patrol officers on a high-speed pursuit in north Merced County, just south of Turlock, late Tuesday afternoon.
A CHP officer saw the man speeding and driving erratically on south Golden State Boulevard and attempted a traffic stop, according to Sgt. Ceto Ortiz.
The man continued south on Golden State at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. He turned east onto Bradbury Road, got off the motorcycle and ran into a corn field, Ortiz said. A perimeter was established and CHP officers searched the field.
Eventually, the man surrendered, but details about the search were limited Wednesday. Information about the man's identity was incomplete.
He was arrested on suspicion of felony evading and possession of a stolen vehicle. The motorcycle had been reported stolen over the weekend out of Delhi, Ortiz said.
