CHOWCHILLA -- The Chowchilla City Council voted unanimously during Monday night's meeting to enter into an agreement with a developer in a proposal that city officials say could bring more than 2,000 jobs to the area.
The city voted to enter into the memorandum of understanding with CHWCD Inc., a development company based in Fresno and Chowchilla that was formed by local business partners with the intent to develop about 580 acres of industrial and commercial land along Highway 99 and Highway 152.
The project design and parts could include industrial, commercial, entertainment, recreation and leisure uses. Those uses are still being studied by the developer and the city.
City Administrator Mark Lewis said the MOU doesn't impose any financial commitments on the city.
Never miss a local story.
