The League of Women Voters of Merced County will hold its 2011-2012 opening meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 6:30 pm in the Merced City Council Chambers. The public is invited to attend.
The program is titled “Early Childhood Education (ECE) for All: What is the Federal Government’s Role?” A panel comprised of First 5 Merced Executive Director Brian Mimura, MCOE Assistant Superintendent Gaye Riggs and Steven Tietjen, superintendent of the Los Banos Unified School District will offer a local perspective. The discussion will be moderated by Tammy Moss-Chandler, Merced County Public Health Department Director.
Attendees will hear about the status of ECE in Merced and beyond. Audience questions will prompt discussion about the federal government’s role in supporting and expanding ECE nationally.
