A Merced County Sheriff’s helicopter was unable to find a group of six or seven women who were allegedly trying to fight a woman in the North Bear Creek and Montana Avenue area Saturday night.
The California Highway Patrol received a call of the group of women on the street trying to fight one woman, said Deputy Tom MacKenzie, sheriff’s spokesman. The victim got into her car, and the women allegedly were trying to get into her car, he said.
CHP then transferred the call to the sheriff’s office, which dispatched a helicopter - that happened to be out on patrol - to the area. However, deputies weren’t able to find the suspects or the victim, MacKenzie said.
The helicopter is usually out on patrol on the weekends, he said.
Never miss a local story.
The sheriff’s department received the call at around 10:40 p.m.
