A Carmichael, Calif., woman was killed Thursday on Highway 132 in Stanislaus County in a collision that also resulted in minor injuries to three Merced County residents.
Name of the 52-year-old victim was withheld by the California Highway Patrol, pending notification of next-of-kin.
The Mercedians were Jorge Magana, 34, of Delhi; Jacinto Francisco, 40, and Roberto Lorenzo, 36. both of Merced.
The woman from Carmichael was traveling in her 2003 Mercury west on Highway 132 at an unknown rate of speed west of Dakota Road. Magana was traveling east on the highway, approaching the Mercury. For an unknown reason, the woman driver allowed her vehicle to drift onto the right shoulder, according to the CHP, then she over-corrected, causing her car to spin in a counter-clockwise direction into the eastbound lane and into the path of Magana’s 1999 Chevrolet.

He saw that the driver was out of control and applied the brakes, but was unable to avoid the collision. The front end of his car struck the left side rear of the Mercury, which then spun into an orchard on the south side of the highway.
The driver’s side door area struck an almond tree, causing fatal injuries to the driver, the CHP said.
The Chevrolet also spun into the orchard and also struck an almond tree, with its front end. Magana and his two passengers reported minor injuries.
