The California Lottery said one player who bought aket for last night’s MEGA Millions draw in Los Angeles is now $56.5 million richer for it.
The big winner purchased the ticket at Convenience Retailers, which is located at 2250 North Figueroa Street in Los Angeles. The ticket matched all six numbers – 19, 45, 21, 3, 44, and the Mega number of 29. Convenience Retailers will receive a bonus of $282,500 for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
A second ticket, sold in North Carolina, also matched all six numbers to claim the other half of the $113 million jackpot.
If you are the winner, the Lottery wants to remind you to sign the back of your ticket, put it in a safe place and contact Lottery officials or visit your local Lottery District Office as soon as possible. Lottery offices are closed on weekends, but the big winner can come forward first thing Monday morning when doors open at 8 a.m. and, when they do, they will have up to 60 days to decide whether to opt for a lump sum payment or 26 annual payments.
Last night’s jackpot marked the first time since June that the MEGA Millions jackpot amount surpassed the $100 million mark. This is the 16th time a Californian has won the MEGA Millions jackpot, and the first time since a Morro Bay resident claimed a $135 million jackpot in August 2010.
In addition to last night’s big winner, three lucky California tickets – sold in Van Nuys, Long Beach, and West Covina – managed to match five of six numbers to split a prize worth $433,041.
MEGA Millions is a multistate game, played in California and 41 other states. Players pick five numbers from 1 to 56 plus a Mega number from 1 to 46.
