A 27-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash west of Stevinson early Sunday, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The name of the victim, a Stevinson resident, hasn't been released pending notification of family or next-of-kin.
The crash was reported to the CHP at 12:42 a.m. on River Road, west of Blow Road, although the time of the crash is unknown. The victim was driving a 1994 blue Chevy Corsica east on River Road at an unknown speed, according to the CHP.
For unknown reasons, the driver made an unsafe turn to the left and lost control of the car. The car rotated counter-clockwise and traveled onto the north shoulder of the road. The driver's side of the car crashed into a tree.
An officer found the driver, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, pinned inside the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
It's unknown whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
