The Merced Community College Board of Trustees invites public comment on three redistricting scenarios to be presented during a special meeting on Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. in the Margaret M. Randolph Board Room on the Merced campus.
The Merced Community College District is in the process of redistricting its trustee areas using newly available 2010 U.S. census figures. Redistricting is a process in which trustee area populations are equalized and their boundaries are adjusted in compliance with applicable state and federal law. The district is required to go through the redistricting process every 10 years following the completion of the U.S. census.
In addition to the Oct. 18 public hearing, the college will hold a public outreach meeting on Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. at the Los Banos Campus located at 22240 Highway 152.
