Caltrans has closed Highway 165 between the junctions of Highways 140 and 152 to through traffic. The route closed Oct. 3 and is scheduled to reopen on Feb. 12, 2012.
Local traffic will be able to access Highway 165 from the south at the junction of Highway 152. However, during the closure the public will not be able to travel across or under the San Joaquin River Bridge on Highway 165, which is being reconstructed.
Crews will replace the San Joaquin River Bridge, widen two other bridges, pave the roadway with asphalt overlay, and modify the Santa Fe Grade Road and Wolfsen Road intersections on the 15-mile stretch of highway.
Motorists should expect 60-minute delays. The alternate routes:Traveling southbound on State Route 165:--Right (westbound) at State Route 140--Southbound on Highway 33 through Gustine--Southbound on Interstate 5--Eastbound on State Route 152Traveling northbound on Highway 165:--Left (westbound) at State Route 152--Northbound on Interstate 5--Northbound on State Route 33 through Gustine--Eastbound on State Route 140The work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change based on weather conditions.
The agency will alternately close the left shoulders, No. 1 (left) and No. 2 (right) lanes and the right shoulders on eastbound and westbound Highway 152 from San Luis to Highway 59.
Work will begin on Oct. 17 through Oct. 20 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Work will also occur on Oct. 21 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crews will pave the roadway in this location. Motorists should expect 15-minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.--Sun-Star staff
