Merced's Calvary Chapel and First Christian Church (Disciples), who both meet at 1345 E. Olive Avenue, have joined to share securing canned goods and non-perishable food items for the Merced County Food Bank.
Church members at First Christian built California's "Largest Cornucopia," decorated it with harvest items and invited church members at both Calvary Chapel and First Christian to bring food to help those less fortunate in Merced and the surrounding areas.
Pastors Greg Boyd (Calvary) and Gene Hill (FCC) said it would be a good opportunity to join in ministry for the local community. Food items will be collected at both church services this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. for Calvary Chapel and at 11 a.m. for First Christian. Collected food will then be delivered to the Food Bank before Thanksgiving Day.
If community citizens would like to contribute food items through this outreach ministry, please contact Pastor Gene Hill at (209) 383-1442.
