Pedrozo, Walsh face challenges for Merced County Board of Supervisors; Kelsey running unopposed

Deidre Kelsey will get another four years on the Merced County Board of Supervisors. First elected in 1996, Kelsey will start her fifth term in January after challengers failed to emerge during the candidate filing period for the June 5 election.

Her fellow incumbents weren't so lucky.

John Pedrozo is being challenged in the District 1 race by three candidates, including former Livingston Mayor Daniel Varela, Merced County sheriff's Sgt. James Pacheco and Peggi Gioletti.

Hub Walsh faces a rematch with Casey Steed, who last ran for a seat on the Board of Supervisors in 2008, finishing fourth in the five-way race. Steed is listed as a business owner on his campaign forms.
