Golden Valley Health Centers will open the newest addition to their Merced main campus in South Merced — the Senior Health and Wellness Center.
The public is invited to a Grand Opening Celebration April 5. The day will start with a community health fair beginning at 11:30 a.m. and a light lunch will be served. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 12:15 p.m. The building will then be open until 6 p.m. to the public.
The center was made possible by a $9.5 million grant from the federal government. Golden Valley received the funds “in recognition of the vital role that community health centers play in providing high quality health care in a very cost-effective manner,” Golden Valley said in a news release.
In addition to senior health care, the facility will feature specialty care (including podiatry), eye care, counseling, health education, nutrition advice, pharmacy and lab services.
The center will also feature a new community garden consisting of eight garden beds.
