The Downtown Life Magazine and the Merced Theatre Foundation are partnering to bring the second annual MiddleState Independent Comedy Film Festival to the historic Merced Theatre April 28.
The festival will feature award winning independent comedy films. It will be the first chance to see films at the 1,200-seat theater's high-definition projection and sound system.
"This is a chance to be a part of history," DLM publisher and event organizer Tom Price said in a news release. "We are ushering in a new era of film in our community and anybody can be a part of it, all you have to do is buy a ticket."
The festival will feature three programs, "The Really Long Short Film Program," "The Main Event" and "Late Night Laughs." Films include features "Juko's Time Machine" and "Unicorn City," and award-winning shorts including, "A**hole," "Song of the Spindle" and "I'm Dating the Antichrist."
they are working with local filmmakers Mercy Gulch Films, showing four of their comedy short films. The group will also hold a Q&A session following their screening.
Prices range from $8 to $15 and All-Festival passes are available for $30. Tickets can be purchased online atwww.middlestatefilmfestival.com or at Coffee Bandits, next door to the theater.
