Merced homicide victim identified

A man shot to death Sunday night in Merced has been identified as Antonio Jacobo, 41, according to the Merced County coroner's office.
Jacobo was unresponsive when police arrived in the 1200 block of West Sixth Street at 10:46 p.m., after receiving calls from residents about shots fired in the area.
Officers found Jacobo lying on the south side of the sidewalk near Margaret Sheehy Elementary School, Sgt. Scott Skinner said.
Police believe he was unarmed. The homicide remains under investigation and no suspects are in custody.
