A Wreaths Across America ceremony was held Saturday at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery near Santa Nella.
Six hundred forty fresh evergreen wreaths, each with a red bow were laid amongst the 35,000 graves at the cemetery on Saturday December 15, 2012. Seven special memorials honoring the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines, and POW/MIA's were placed on stands during the ceremony. Wreaths Across America places the Christmas decoration on graves in all 50 states, including 24 national cemeteries. The effort began more than 20 years ago at Arlington National Cemetery.
