Two men were arrested Friday by the Merced County Sheriff's STAR Team on suspicion of running a marijuana operation in the Stevinson area.

The STAR Team arrested Sergio Torrez Rodriguez, 20, and Francisco Javier Ramirez Moreno, 21, Friday. The growing operation was discovered in the 20000 block of Third Avenue, according to Deputy Delray Shelton.

Deputies reported finding 2,300 plants indoors and outdoors. Evidence indicated that the growers were in the process of taking small plants outdoors for planting, Shelton said.

Deputies reported finding a hash conversion operation at the site.

The two men were booked at the Merced County Jail on suspicion of drug charges.
