Sunday social dance

Reading Society to meet

DAV seeks drivers in area

Disabled American Veterans is looking for adults to be volunteer drivers. Helping ensures that veterans can make their appointments and not go without the treatment they need. The DAV provides a van and fuel. Call (559) 241-6424 or (559) 225-6100, ext. 6907.

Help with codependency

CoDA is a 12-step program that helps codependent people have healthy, loving relationships. The group meets from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at 500 Buena Vista Drive in the First Baptist Church administration building.

Special holiday service

The United Methodist Church will hold a service featuring prayer, scripture and music at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at 2550 Linden St. for those who find it hard to celebrate at this time of year because of difficulties such as the loss of a loved one. Call (209) 358-6172.

Christmas Eve at church

The Baptist Church’s annual Christmas Eve Service will be held at 6 p.m. The community is invited to join in singing carols and celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

Classroom supply drive

This Christmas season, United Way of Merced County is providing classroom supplies to teachers who ordinarily have to buy many supplies themselves. The effort will help at schools in lower-income neighborhoods this year. Aid is needed with supplies such as facial tissue, hand sanitizer, notebooks, No. 2 pencils, rulers, crayons and colored markers. Donations can be dropped off before Wednesday at the United Way office, 658 W. Main Street. For more information, call (209) 383-4242.
