Brian Meisenheimer, principal of Mitchell Senior Elementary School in Atwater, has been appointed to a key council of the Association of California School Administrators.
Meisenheimer will join the association’s Middle Grades Education Council and will work toward strengthening collaboration among leaders in the middle grades, typically sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade educators. He will also be planning professional development programs for them.
Meisenheimer, 44, has been the Mitchell Senior principal for a year and was principal at Mitchell Elementary School in Atwater for five years. He has been an association member for nine years.
Kelly Fincher, president of the Atwater Elementary School District Board of Trustees, said Meisenheimer is a very motivated and hard-working principal and will make a major contribution to the committee.
Meisenheimer said he looks forward to helping council members set long-term goals for helping middle-school administrators be successful. Before being named principal at the two Atwater schools, Meisenheimer was vice principal of Yolo Middle School in Newman and a fourth- and eighth-grade teacher for eight years.
The Association has 26 councils and committees representing more than 14,500 superintendents, principals, vice principals, classified managers and other employees throughout the state. A member-driven organization, it is committed to improving student performance and educational leadership in California’s public schools, according to the association.
